This is a high range drone flute in C meaning it has a crisp, resonant and powerful sound. The drone side is tuned to a G which is a fifth lower. That gives it a deeper more haunting sound, and balances very well with the higher pitch of the flute. It is an Aeolian tuning which has a dreamlike, Eastern European enchanting quality. This is a perfect drone to start with, the finger spread being very comfortable - for beginners to advanced players.
The body is made of Madrone, the end caps and sound blocks of maple burl and the bands of Paduk for accent.
It might take us a 2-4 weeks to make your flute. Wood is a natural material and each piece is unique. Your flute will be made out of the same wood but might have a different grain than the picture. All of our flutes use a water based finish in and out. The leather straps will be deer or elk depending on availability.
