About Us

Meet the Maker

I am Altazor Bifani, a French-Chilean artist and creator of Albatroz flutes.

Seven years ago, I met my wife and followed her to the Pacific Northwest. I have fallen in love with this part of the world, and currently reside on Kalapuyan land (Eugene, Oregon).

I have been a craft person and a maker of different things for twenty years. In 2019, I had the great honor and privilege to meet and learn from Miguel Medina at Singing Tree Flutes.

When I picked up my first flute I instantly fell in love. I had found my voice. It has resparked my desire to keep learning and explore the world of music.

I tried for a long time to learn trumpet but I found myself frustrated, feeling like I couldn't really express myself.

I love these flutes because they are simple and make it accessible to everyone to express themselves without knowing anything about music. However, I am also amazed by their versatility and sophistication. There really is room to grow as a musician and plenty of fun to have for more experienced players.

Everyone has a musician inside and I hope my instruments can offer the gift of music to others, as they have given me.

Behind the Scenes

Xanthia, Altazor's wife, supports the background work and communications for Albatroz Flutes.

Born in California on Wappo land, she studied Native American water justice and tribal sovereignty in Portland. Now based in Eugene, she lives and works with Altazor and their two dogs to bring beautiful flutes out into the world.

We'd love to hear from you
